Presidents’ Day, Mardi Gras, and Valentine’s Day Converge to Create 100+ Minute Waits at Walt Disney World
A combination of three holidays over the past few days has made Walt Disney World unusually crowded. Valentine’s Day fell on Saturday, February 14; Presidents’ Day is on Monday, February 18; and Mardi Gras fell on Tuesday, February 17. With many people taking Presidents’ Day off and Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras celebrations sprinkled throughout the resort, crowds surged.
Disney World Wait Times
Around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, several marquee attractions reported long waits. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was posting a 95-minute line, among its longest wait times in recent chilly weeks. Slinky Dog Dash registered a 100-minute wait, Test Track hit 115 minutes, and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror stood at 130 minutes. Space Mountain was temporarily down, which may have contributed to longer lines on other Magic Kingdom rides.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train saw a 95-minute wait, while TRON Lightcycle Run was at 90 minutes. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios were both around 95 minutes. The latter is particularly notable given that Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is slated for a quick closure due to a Muppets reimagining in the near future.
Other top waits included 80 minutes for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and 85 minutes for Avatar Flight of Passage and Jungle Cruise.
Even though these numbers might feel typical for peak summer or winter holiday periods, they’re unusual for mid-February. Wait times could ease a bit in the coming days, though Spring Break is approaching, and crowds are expected to rise again.
