The Atlanta Falcons' promising rookie linebacker, James Pearce Jr., faced a shocking setback when he was arrested in Florida on Saturday following a domestic dispute. The incident involved Rickea Jackson, a forward for the Los Angeles Sparks. Pearce was charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated stalking, and additional charges of fleeing and eluding police officers, aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, and resisting an officer without violence. The dispute allegedly occurred between Pearce and Jackson, and the police chase that ensued resulted in a vehicle crash. Pearce, who was only 22 years old at the time, had an impressive showing in the previous season, finishing third in the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year voting and recording 10.5 sacks, the most for a rookie since Micah Parsons in 2024. The Falcons drafted Pearce in the 2025 NFL draft, selecting him with the 26th pick.
