The Pittsburgh Penguins dominate with a historic 37-second goal spree!
In a high-octane clash against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night, the Penguins pulled off an incredible feat. Anthony Mantha, the star forward, scored twice within 37 seconds, a record-breaking moment in Penguins history. But here's where it gets controversial: this was also the fastest three goals the Oilers had ever conceded!
The game started with a bang as Justin Brazeau set up Mantha with a clever pass, and the latter deflected it in just 2:20 into the game. Mantha then scored again on a breakaway, and Sidney Crosby joined the party with a deflection of his own just 15 seconds later.
Evgeni Malkin, Rickard Rakell, and Egor Chinakhov also got on the scoresheet, with Arturs Silovs making 30 crucial saves. The Penguins' 6-2 victory extended their winning streak to three, and they now sit at an impressive 25-14-11 record.
For the Oilers, Jake Walman and Matthew Savoie found the back of the net, but it wasn't enough to stop the Penguins' momentum. Tristan Jarry, facing his former team, made 16 saves. The Oilers have now lost two consecutive games and four out of their last six, dropping to 25-19-8.
And this is the part most people miss: Connor McDavid, the Oilers' superstar, was held pointless for the second consecutive game, a rare occurrence this season. The last time he went two games without a point was in February 2025, a stretch interrupted by the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Up next, the Penguins travel to Vancouver on Sunday, while the Oilers host Washington on Saturday night.
So, what do you think? Is the Penguins' early goal spree a sign of their dominance, or just a lucky streak? And will Connor McDavid's dry spell continue? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
